Toasted Head Chardonnay Wine

The connection between the toasted head name and the fire breathing bear don't make sense right away but thankfully the Toasted Head Wines website explains the connection very well.

The "toast" is from a wine barrel making process that scorches the insides of barrels to make the wine taste better. The "head" is the top of the barrel and a stave is the curved wood on the sides which are usually burned-chard-scorched too. The bear image is from an illustration to a poem.

The winery, which does not have a tasting room, is a spread out operation. The grapes are grown in California's Dunnigan Hills section of Yolo County. (When a visitor in nearby Napa Valley faces west the person would face mountains and the other side of those mountains is the famous Sonoma County. That same visitor looking east would also see mountains and the other side of those would be Yolo County which is also a famous growing region for great organic fruits and vegetables. It is also the home of the UC Davis Department of Viticulture & Enology which is the academic study of winemaking.)

The winemaking for Toasted Head actually occurs about 50 miles south in the central valley town of Woodbridge which is part of the Lodi growing region. Constellation Wines owns the winery and they have headquarters in San Francisco.
