The exceptions to the ninety-percent law include Tannat, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Sangiovese as well as Red and White Rhone varietals. With these varietals, rather than the ninety-percent rule, they follow the seventy-five percent rule. The Pinot Noir is what makes Oregon most famous and is produced all over the State. As a matter of fact, over all, the state of Oregon has become regarded as one of the top regions in the world for producing Pinot. As you enjoy your tour of Portland wines, you will for sure come across the top five varietals among others. These include the Riesling, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Also significantly produced in the region are the Gewurztraminer, Syrah, Semillon, and the Marechal Foch, Gamay Noir, Dolcetto, Ameis, Baco Noir and the Zinfandel.
