Italian Wine Map
An Italian wine map will lead you through the different wine producing regions of Italy. Wine lovers the world over know that Italy is the where some of the oldest wine producers in the world are located. A good wine map of Italy should include the wine grape varietal, some wine tasting tours and culinary tours because of the variety of food and wine the country has to offer. Corporate events and wine tour honeymoons are also popular. Responsible for some of the most sought after varietals in the world, Italy is the next biggest global producer after France. The wineries in Italy export around the world including to Asian countries such as India. The geography of wine producing regions have certain characteristics including the extensive foothills and mountains that provide a lot of altitude for growing grapes in a variety of soil conditions and climates. Next is the fact that being a peninsula, Italy has a longer shoreline than other regions, which means a longer coast for growing wine. There is a range of extensive latitudes in the country, letting it grow wine to the southern area near Africa and in the northern Alps. The twenty regions of Italy are in accordance to twenty regions for administration. Understanding the wine becomes easier when you understand, through the map, the difference of one region to the next. The cuisines of each region also reflect on the wines which are indigenous, and vice versa. The thirty-six wines which are DOCG in thirteen different regions are concentrated mostly in Tuscany and Piedmont. Among these are the much-sought after, appreciated appellations including what is colloquially known as the three ‘Killer B’s.’ These include Brunello di Montalcino, Barbaresco and Barolo. In your map you will see the different wine regions include Sardegna, Sicilia, Calabria, Puglia, Basilicata, Campania, Molise, Abruzzo, Lazio, Umbria, Le Marche, Toscana, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige/Sudtirol, Lombardia, Liguria, Piemonte and Valle D’Aosta. The MIRAF which is the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Italy made a documentation of over three hundred and fifty grapes and granted them a status called ‘authorized.’ The wine map of Italy by Steve De Long can be used to decorate on an office wall or den room. It serves as a handy color coded guide for reference and includes sections of adjoining countries.
